How Our Design Process Works

How Our Design Process Works

Design is what sets our full service package apart from the rest! When we are involved in the design process we get the opportunity to make your wedding completely and totally y’all. Our design process has many steps but it first starts with getting to know you! When you sign with us we send you a getting to know you questionnaire where we recommend our couples make this into a date night and sit down and answer some fun questions! In the getting to know you questionnaire we ask you everything from your story and your favorite places to travel and your personal style. From these questions we get a good sense of who our couples are and it gives us chances to personalize tiny little details in their design. Say the two of you met at a brewery. We will figure out a way to get the first beer you ever shared on the wedding day menu. Say you have fur babies that you need to be involved in your day, we will figure out how to make them the stars of the show even if there are no pets allowed on the venue site.

After our initial questionnaire we set up a design consultation. I love for this to be in person and if possible over a few cocktails so we can really get to know eachother. I have my couples start with finding all their favorite inspiration photos or a pinterest board.

Pro tip: Make a new pinterest board when you get engaged. You will be absolutely shocked thing things you pinned to your “My Wedding” board when you were in high school. lol.

From there we talk through all the tiny details of your special day from start to finish. We talk about color scheme, mood, attire, room layout, linens, glassware and so much more. But the biggest discussion is about special ways we can make your day different and authentic to you as a couple. From there, I take all my fun notes and create a design deck that has everything we discussed laid out in words and photos.

Design is our fave! But just because we love it doesn’t mean its not a ton of work! Our full design concepts are presented to you after about 4-6 weeks. We send off the initial design concept in an email so the couple can look it over together. Then we have another fun meeting where we talk over any of the likes, dislikes or off the wall suggestions I made to fine tune the design. Once we have our finalized design concept we can start sending it out to our dream vendor team to make all of our dreams come true. This is how we create the most personal, non traditional and fun weddings we possibly can! It is a labor of love and one of my fave parts of my job! I wanted to show y’all how a real design concept looks next to a gallery from a real wedding. These two were so sick and had one of my favorite designs of the year. You be the judge, did we do a good job of making this couples vision come to life?

Jordyn & Meredith's Granby Ranch LGBTQ+ Wedding

Jordyn & Meredith's Granby Ranch LGBTQ+ Wedding

When I met Jordyn and Meredith I knew we were going to be friends. Like best friends.

Jordyn and Meredith were married at the top of Granby Mountain in August of 2021. Jordyn wore a gorgeous low-V, A-Line gown with a metallic headband, while Meredith wore a custom made white suit with burgundy details. To get to the mountain top ceremony, all guests had to take a chairlift and a short walk through the yellow leafed aspen tree grove that led them to the breathtaking ceremony space. Just before Jordyn walked down the aisle, Meredith turned her back to the crowd so she could see her bride as she stopped at the top of the aisle. The small gesture had everyone in tears, including Meredith whose emotion can be seen so clearly from the photos. They exchanged the most personal vows and more laughs and tears were shed during their deeply spiritual ceremony. After the couple said I do, they jumped the broom and had a shot of Jameson together at the end of the aisle. The reception took place inside of the Lodge where guests were served authentic Colorado fare. Before guests could take their seats for dinner and welcome in the newlyweds, they started a party on the dance floor that would go late into the night.  After entering the reception as wife and wife, the couple did their first dance together with their two daughters cutting in towards the end of their dance. I love these two and Im so lucky we have been able to stay close after their nuptuals. Lesbian weddings are the best weddings and I cannot wait for more to come!

How To Be The Perfect Wedding Guest

How To Be The Perfect Wedding Guest

HOW TO BE THE PERFECT WEDDING GUEST

RSVP QUICKLY: Rsvp as quickly as possible! The second you have an opportunity to RSVP you should! It helps everybody out and sometimes the couple will have a back up guest in line if you aren’t able to attend so it helps everybody out!

BUY YOUR GIFT WHEN YOU RSVP: I know I have RSVPd to a wedding before and completely forgot to get the couple a gift, so if you do it all at one time it makes everyones lives easier!

CHECK THE WEBSITE BEFORE ASKING THE COUPLE OR ANY VIPS QUESTIONS: Don’t text the couple and ask them questions that are most likely going to be on the website! Just go to the wedding website first. We work really hard on the website as a team to make it as informative as humanly possible so just head to the website! I promise you that the answers to your questions are most likely there!

CHECK THE DRESS CODE, BUT ALWAYS OVERDRESS: Most likely there will be a whole section on the website that tells you exactly what you should be wearing to the wedding. I personally have never been upset that I overdressed so go all out!

BE ENTHUSIASTIC: Even if they’re doing something that you aren’t into, just be nice and be happy to be there. This “corny” thing may not be for you, but its for them so be excited and be happy and it will make everyone else happy too!

Carolyn & Jack Mountain Garden Party at Camp Hale

Carolyn & Jack Mountain Garden Party at Camp Hale

Carolyn and Jack had the most beautiful Garden Party in the Mountains at one of our favorite mountain venues, Camp Hale in early June! These two are both doctors and wanted to bring together their favorite people (doctors and otherwise) to celebrate their love. For their design we created a mix of soft blues, peaches, yellow and wildflowers by MJM Designs to create the feeling of being in a garden. They kept their invitations, signage and table numbers very clean using black and white with serif fonts and clean lines to give their details a modern touch. We created an outdoor lounge full of cozy soft seating to give guests a soft place to chill which was a huge hit during cocktail hour and when guests needed a break from the dance floor. Their cutting cake by local bakery Hovey and Harrison featured dried pressed flowers to draw in the theme. I had two full years of planning with these guys and I am so happy with how everything turned out! The couple opted for a first look on the bridge where they cried and exchanged personal vows instead of doing their vows during the ceremony. The bride walked down the aisle with both her parents on her arm to the acoustic stylings of my favorite cowboy Ryan Hutchins who always dresses the part. Following the ceremony officiated by the couples close friend (perks of a Colorado wedding, you don’t have to be ordained) guests made their way to the lawn for cocktail hour where they enjoyed drinks, amazing apps and corn hole. The reception kicked off with the couples grande entrance to Gasolina by Daddy Yankee which really got the party started. Tony with The Get Down kept the dance floor packed all night and even had me and my assistant, Emily dancing on the sidelines. The bride changed into a kick ass pleated jumpsuit after dinner and special dances while we passed out dance floor props and glow sticks. Lucky for us we weren’t in a fire ban so we got to send the couple off with a classic sparkler send off! For a group of doctors, these kids sure know how to party! The sweetest review from the sweetest bride

“Hiring Payton is the absolute best decision we made for our wedding! She was amazing every step of the way and made the entire process so seamless. From helping us decide on our venue, to guiding us into selecting the most perfect vendors we could imagine, to helping with all of the design decisions when we were at a loss, she was so helpful and patient. She went above and beyond to help us make our wedding day (and multiple surrounding events) even better than we could have imagined was possible. She is such a joy to work with and truly made our wedding planning experience enjoyable and gave us unforgettable memories that we will forever cherish.” - Carolyn
