Kate & Bryce's South Does Colorado Wedding at the Grand Hyatt Vail

Kate and Bryce were a Texas couple that found me on Instagram. Kate and I immediately fell in love over the phone because who couldn’t love her strong southern accent? Kate had selected the Grand Hyatt Vail for her wedding without even visiting the space first, she just knew! On this couples special day they opted for a first look on the top of Vail Mountain and mannn did the photos by Kelsey Booth Photography come out perfect! Bryce brought a bottle of champagne up the mountain to celebrate with his future wife. After their first look they rode down the gondola together (alone without photographers) for some extra alone time! The design for this wedding was stunning with colors of dusty blue, ivory, and soft blush pinks! For flowers, which were created by Anthia Designs, Kate wanted an on the ground half circle arch and floral lined aisle that made the space look like the flowers were sprouting up around guests and the couple. It turned out absolutely perfect! The couple exchanged vows on the ceremony lawn right next to the rushing river. For recessional music the brides mother surprised the couple with a bag piper that lead the guests from the ceremony to cocktail hour with his traditional Irish tunes. For dinner the couple had stations which served some of their favorite food like a macaroni and cheese bar and a build your own potato bar (Complete with purple potatoes that I’ve never seen before). Their cake, created by Babycakes Steamboat, simply showcased the Colorado mountains in fondant. The cake topper was the brides grandmothers that every grandchild had used at their wedding since (complete with crusted icing from all the past cakes. So cute and personal! For their dance party the newlyweds had me handout light up tamborines to all their guests and they had such a blast with them! Their wedding day ended on a high not with a private last dance for the bride and groom, breakfast burritos provided by the brides aunt and a cutesy sparkler send off! Kate and Bryce wanted to bring the south to the Colorado mountains, and oh man did they throw one hell of a party!

How to Choose a Wedding Venue

How to Choose a Wedding Venue

Choosing the perfect venue can be a totally terrifying task! Here are a few tips from us about how to pick the most perfect wedding venue for you, your partner and your guests:

Is it in your budget? This is huge. Before getting started on finding your perfect venue you need to know how much money you can spend on a venue. You will most likely spend a large chunk of your budget on your venue (especially if they are also providing food and beverage service). Start a budget (or have your planner do it for you) before venue shopping so you know exactly if a venue is within your budget or not.

Does it Logistically Make Sense? Will the day run smoothly or feel broken up and choppy? The flow of the day is critical to selecting a venue. How close is the ceremony to cocktail hour and the cocktail hour to the reception space? Having all of these places close to one another make your day feel smooth and easy! Even if you decide to do your ceremony and reception in two different locations, think about potentially providing transportation for guests so your guests still feel like the day flows well.

Are there hotels nearby for guests to conveniently stay? If most of your guests are traveling in from out of state, think about the different hotel options that are near by. You want your guests to have a few different priced hotel option to fit their needs to make sure there are options close to your venue that make sense. Also think about that access to Air BnB’s and rental properties!

Whats The Time Frame? Ask the venue when you can get into the venue and when you have to leave! Do you have a crew who will want to party late into the night? Then a 9 PM end time is not for you! Ask this question early on and ask if additional hours can be purchased!

Can You Picture Yourself Getting Married There and Will You Look Back on it Fondly? Many couples go back and visit their venues for their anniversaries and you want it to be a place you really love and want to revisit! When you visit each venue take a moment alone or with your partner and really think about if you can picture your special day there. If you get those butterfly feelings in your stomach this just might be the right venue for you!

Shelby and Brett's Modern Moss Denver Wedding

Shelby and Brett's Modern Moss Denver Wedding

This was easily my favorite wedding of 2018.

Not only because these two were friends from high school, but also because they had a design style that spoke to my soul! Shelby and Brett said “I do” at Moss Denver on October 17, 2018 (The day before my 26th birthday!). The day started by getting all dolled up. Shelby is incredible at make up (check out her Instagram) so she did her own hair and make up for the big day. The couple opted for a first look and the bride wore a two piece gown that blew the grooms socks off. It was such a perfect moment that I creepily watched and videotaped from afar. The whole bridal party took photos and the bride and groom were able to walk around the space and see all of their hard work and year of planning come to life. The brides style was clean and modern. She opted for all white floral and using crystals on the guest tables. The Hexagon Arch was a last minute addition that completely rounded out the already stunning ceremony space. The couple were married by their close friend and youth pastor Colin who kept the guests laughing and crying through the whole ceremony. Cocktail hour kicked off with drinks and yard games like corn hole and giant connect four. When the guests were asked to find their seat for dinner, they found their escort cards that were baby succulents with their names on them done by our girl at Santa Fe Paper Co. Right before the party Shelby changed into a separate boho chic top to complete her second look! These two were a blast and so easy to work with! It is so fun to me when old friends become clients and we can create their special day together!

Congrats to The Bandys! #thebandyfamcan

This amazing couple was married at The Donovan Pavillion on July 6th! This couple had a love for the mountains and a love for the outdoors, for that reason we picked this stunning blank slate venue for them! This couple kicked off their wedding weekend by celebrating with all of their friends and Family on the back patio of the Grand Hyatt Vail (Formally Hotel Talisa). Their guests ate, drank, and enjoyed live guitar music into the night. On this couples wedding day they opted to do a first look, where they would see each other in a private setting and do a chunk of their photos before the ceremony. This was a such a perfect and intimate moment and I would recommend doing a first look to any and all couples! Mollys color scheme was a mix of light purples, pinks, and dusty lavenders with pops of ivory and gold! We set up the ceremony patio with a natural birch arch provided by Have A Seat Colorado and added an asymmetrical floral pop to bring the natural setting to life. We decked out the reception space with pale pale grey linens and floral by the amazing Lumme Creations. Laura with Lumme created a mix of tall and short centerpieces to lead your eye around the space and take in the slight differences at each table. As each guest took their seat for dinner they were greeted with their own personal charcuterie board to accompany their salad. This amazing detail that was suggested and executed by Footers Catering showcased the couples love for cheese and wanted to share their favorite Colorado cheeses with their (mostly) out of state guests. The Gordons and their guests danced the night away to the sounds of Diamond Empire Band. This was a super fun and rowdy group of friends and it was such a fun night to share with a group the knows how to let loose! All of these photos were captured by my good friend Megan Blowey owner of Megan Blowey Photography who I met working at a seafood restaurant when I was 18. We both somehow ended up in the wedding industry and it was so nice to celebrate this amazing couple together.

Here is what Molly had to say about her experience with Promise Event Planners on her wedding day!

Payton and team did a phenomenal job from start to finish. We began working with Payton before we had even selected a venue - she helped us find the perfect place which required selecting all our own vendors. For each vendor she narrowed it down to a couple option that fit our style and budget and helped us decide from there. All of her advice and suggestions along the way were invaluable and saved us countless hours, not to mention how seamlessly everything ran the day of, including making a secret run to the liquor supplier when we ran low on rose (to the shock of all our experienced vendors who reviewed the bar plan). Payton was the perfect balance of giving opinions and suggestions from her experience while letting your ideas and vision drive the end result. We loved working with her and would highly recommend!

What Do I Need To Rehearse at My Ceremony Rehearsal

What Do I Need To Rehearse at My Ceremony Rehearsal

The Processional Order: This is the order that you want everyone to walk down the aisle. You also want to make sure that everything looks correctly when everyone is standing at the alter. The typical processional order for us is:

  1. Officiant

  2. Groom and his parents (sometimes the father will follow close behind the groom and his mother)

  3. Brides Mother and her Escort

  4. Bridal party members that will be standing farthest away from the alter followed by the bridal party members that will fill in towards the alter and so on

  5. Maid of Honor and Best Man

  6. Ring Bearer

  7. Flower Girl

  8. Bride and her escort

When to Walk Down the Aisle: When you are working with us this is something you don’t really need to think about because we will be standing right there during the processional to tell everyone exactly when they need to walk! But if you are not using a planner let everyone when they should walk.

The Hand Off: No matter who is walking you down the aisle, it is important to practice the hand off to the person you will be marrying. You don’t want it to look like you’re doing some awkward dance up at the alter.

Readers: If you are having a reader or someone giving a special speech you want that person to know where they will be standing as well as what the officiant will say to invite the reader to the microphone. You will also want to let them know if they will have a microphone or if they need to project their voice so everyone will be able to hear their important words.

The Recessional: It’s the golden rule that the bride and groom should completely disappear into the distance before the maid of honor and best man begin to recess down the aisle followed my the rest of the bridal party. They should follow behind once the couple in front of them meets the middle of the ceremony chairs.

Don’t wanna think about all this nonsense when you’re getting married? Leave all this to the professionals and hire us as your wedding planner or month of coordinator! Check out our packages and see what works best for you and your needs!
