Valentines Day For Two

Valentines Day For Two

Mushy Gushy, blah, blah, blah,

While I can't say that Valentines Day is my favorite holiday, I think any excuse to spread love is a good excuse. My Valentines Day plans are to spend it at home with my guy. We plan on picking some fancy Pinterest recipe and actually eating at the dining table for a change. These exact plans are what inspired this tiny last minute photo shoot. I was looking to save some money, while trying to get some really adorable things, so I took a trip to Target for (almost) everything you see here. Shop smarter, not harder ladies. As I'm sure you know, they have the best holiday decor and I took full advantage. Being an obvious sucker for dessert, I made the desserts the stars of the show. Cheesecake is my personal favorite, so I threw on some fresh strawberry, graham cracker sticks, and candy conversation hearts to make the dish more festive. I went with pink ombre waterfall napkins, crystal clear plates, and hammered silver cutlery to complete this tablescape. Finally I added some flowers and a glowing neon heart sign, because thats just how I roll. I hope this inspires someone to do sometime intentional yet simple this Valentines day. What are your plans for the day of love?

The Next Steps After Getting Engaged

The Next Steps After Getting Engaged

Lucky you!

You are finally engaged to the love of your life! Soak it all in, feel the love in your friends and families congratulations, and relish in this incredibly special time. You're engaged...now what? As fun as planning a wedding is, it is also quite a bit of hard work. Here are a few tips and tricks on where to start. Here are the first steps we take when planning a wedding or event.

1. Pick Your Top 3

This is one of the first things I ask my brides to do. Take a step back and think about the three elements that are the most important to you on your wedding day. Is an incredible photographer a must have? Do you invasion a band playing instead of a DJ? Are you obsessed with lighting and installations? Or do you just want to eat some really good food? Whatever your top three things may be, those are the things that will make your day exactly as you have always imagined it. These are also going to be the top three things you spend the most money on, so you will need to budget accordingly. What would your top 3 be?

2. Go to your Pinterest

I know you already have a dream wedding pinterest board...I hate to tell you this, but you’re going to have to start a new board from scratch. Although this task may seem daunting, it is in your best interest. Pinterest is such a blessing and a curse when it comes to planning a wedding. It is an amazing place to gather ideas, find amazing photos, and be able to see all the things you love together in the same place. The downside of Pinterest though, is that it makes us believe that we have to have it all, and that is just impossible. Starting a new board will give you an opportunity to think about the most important have to have elements.

3. Hire A Planner

I'm sure you saw that one coming...but it is so true. Hiring a professional takes the stress off of you and off of your family and friends in the planning process and on the day of the wedding. We do this for a living, so we know how and when to get things done. Having a person to take on all the stressful details and preparation makes all the difference in the world. Hiring a planner is truly the best wedding present you can give to yourself and to your future husband. Enjoy the day and let your planner handle the rest!

Morgan & Luke's Engagement Session with Adam Houseman

Morgan & Luke's Engagement Session with Adam Houseman

Sunsets, Love, & Leather Jackets...

One of our May couples, Morgan & Luke, just visited Colorado for their engagement session with the very talented Adam Houseman. Adam took them up to the top of Flagstaff Mountain to capture the beauty of Colorado, as well as this young couples love for each other. These two are so fun loving and were laughing and joking around the whole time. The end of their shoot was complete with a fiery orange colorado sunset. You can't beat that. Check out their adorable mountain top engagement shoot below.

Calligraphy Workshop with Ink + Root

Calligraphy Workshop with Ink + Root

So we took a calligraphy class...

And it was the best thing ever. Being lovers of all things pretty, we have always been obsessed with Calligraphy and hand lettering. We are always in search of talented vendors in our area and we stumbled upon Ink + Root's  incredibly put together Instagram last summer. When we saw that Hannah from Ink + Root was having a work shop, we obviously jumped at the chance to be a part of it. With hands shaky from too much Sunday morning coffee, we showed up having no idea what to expect. My best friend Baylie and I arrived, surprisingly on time, and were greeted by the incredibly sweet Hannah and a styled cocktail and desert bar. After grabbing our pecan vodka and apple cider cocktails we headed to our seats. The long table was wrapped in brown paper with a long garland running down the center. The garland was adorned with fresh pomegranates, tangerines, and vintage brass candle sticks. SWOON! At our seats, we were provided with a calligraphy workbook, ink, a special calligraphy pen, two nibs, and a notepad. Since this was only a beginners class we focused mostly on the stroked of the calligraphy pen and less about writing pretty words and quotes. Trust me y'all, this is so much harder than it looks. Hannah came around to each person assessing our work and making sure we weren't getting stuck on certain letters and strokes. A full table of sixteen of us sat around writing the alphabet and laughing at ourselves when the letters didn't turn out just so. Ink + Root will be hosting these workshops once a month.  I encourage anyone who is interested in hand lettering or someone who just wants to spend a few hours on a Sunday learning something new to take this amazing class. You can sign up for the workshops on their website. I can't say that I am a natural, but I am so excited to continue practicing and working on this craft. Here are some photos from the workshop.

It's Okay To Change Your Mind

It's Okay To Change Your Mind

Ladies, I Promise It Is Okay To Change Your Mind

I met with one of my brides last night and she was worried about the fact that her vision for the Denver wedding had changed since her first consultation. With her wedding being nine months away she was worried she would not be allowed to make changes to her original ideas. When planning the biggest day of your life, you have tons of ideas coming at you from multiple directions. From Pinterest to your future mother in law, everyone has an opinion and wants to give their two cents on what they think you should do. In the long run, stay true to yourself and what you picture your special day to look like. I promise that it is okay to change your mind! Your vendors want you to be happy, so just talk to them and express your concerns! Discuss your new vision and most vendors will be happy to work with you. Relax, it is all good! We love our clients new vision and we can't wait to make it come alive at Moss Denver in September.
