For All My Rustic Brides

For All My Rustic Brides

This is for All My Rustic Brides:

As a Colorado wedding planner I see the rustic theme all the time. When I ask my brides about the theme of their wedding, rustic and "authentically Colorado" often go hand in hand. Stay away from the cookie cutter ideas and take your wedding to the next level with a few of these special additions.

Get Festive with Garland:

Garland is an awesome way to fill a blank space (insert Taylor Swift reference here). I love garland because it can completely change the vibe of a wedding based on the type you use. Keep it romantic with lace and hearts, channel your inner Kate Spade with Gold tassels, or add a modern touch with geometric triangles.

Cue the Mood Lighting:

Lighting can completely change the feeling in a room. Adding chandeliers or lots of candles can make your wedding or event feel warm and romantic. This gem adorned chandelier will totally glam up your rustic affair. This other chandelier features mason jars, which is a staple at any rustic event. If hanging lighting isn't your thing, use candles to light the room. This wooden tea light holder will really capture your guests attention.

Spruce Up Your Farm Table:

Dress your table with more than just knives and forks. Adding a charger or place mat is a great way to add some rustic flair. These wooden place mats are perfect for your sweetheart table. The wooden blocks can help your guests find their way to their table and will look so adorable at their seat. Find these Mr. and Mrs. settings at the steponitart shop on Etsy.

Sashes & Belts:

Why not spice up your lace gown with a sash or belt. Belts can completely transform a dress and these ones will  definitely make you stand out. Honestly, when will you ever be able to wear a completely bedazzled belt again? Go for it bride!

Favors Your Guests Will Actually Use:

Favors for a guest isn't always necessary, but it is a nice touch. I cannot tell you how many times I've packed up wedding favors after guests have not taken them home with them. Give your guests something they won't want to leave behind. These hand painted coasters and personalized wooden bottle stoppers are an awesome way to tie in the wood theme in a useful way. I love these tiny magnetic turquoise hearts. Your guests can use them to hang your future Christmas card on their fridge! AW! You can also give your guests something to keep the memory of your day alive, like a small succulent. Although they will have to keep this thing alive, succulents don't take much work.

Better Than A Guest Book:

A binded guest book will just sit on your coffee table or on a shelf for the rest of your life. Have the memory of your guests and your wedding displayed somewhere in your home where you can remember your special day for years to come. Things like this globe and hanging frame can be signed in different colored markers to match your wedding colors and your home decor. These items will be a conversation piece for anyone that enters your home.

Not Your Daddy's Silk Tie:

Who said the ladies should have all the fun when it comes to wedding fashion? Dress your groom in something he can show off too. These ties stay away from the normal colored silk tie and TIE in the rustic theme of your wedding. (see what I did there?) Burlap, leather, and floral ties will go perfectly with your theme. Your groom doesn't have to wear a bow tie I just have a soft spot for them. Don't forget suspenders too!

National Drink Wine Day

TODAY IS NATIONAL WINE DAY!

And I know I will be celebrating with a few glasses of vino. In honor of this amazing holiday here are a few ways your wine bottles can be re-purposed and used at your wedding.

Friday Favorites Valentine's Day Edition

Happy Valentine's Day Loves

It's Friday again and that means you only have two days to figure out what your doing for the holiday. I know tons of people who loath this day but I am loving it! Here are a few of my favorite things in the Valentine's Day Edition of Friday Favorites! Here's to another year of love!

XOXO

What To Wear:

Who doesn't love to buy a new outfit and get all dressed up (even when you have nowhere to go)? Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to do just that. Dress yourself in something floral, pink, or burgundy and drop some jaws.

Can't Go Wrong With Flowers:

Personally I've never met a flower I didn't like. Whether you are buying flowers for your significant other, a friend, or yourself, make sure to get yourself something original and fun. Check out your local florist and see what they have. Something like these crimson Peonies or these awesome flower boxes are sure to make someone very very happy.

Tech Gifts:

For the little nerd in your life, here are my favorite tech gifts this February:

This black marble and rose gold Mac Book cover is insane (and currently on the way to my doorstep). I can promise you that any girl or guy will love it.

Is your girls phone ALWAYS dying? Buy her this trendy tassel charger available at Nordstrom. This will give her the ability to plug in and charge up anywhere she can find a USB port.Attach it to your keys or your bag for an added pop of color.

Have I mentioned that I am loving rose gold this season? These Beats by Dre headphones are brand new and selling out everywhere. I'm on my third pair of Beats now and I swear by them.

If Your Feeling Crafty:

If you don't feel like buying a gift is in the cards this year, get crafty! Make something original and special for the two of you. I love this big heart box full of your guys favorite shooters and candy (easy and cheap). This home made cuddle kit is perfect for a romantic night in. Fill a basket with your favorite wine, chocolate, your Netflix password and "chill" all night long.

If Your Really Feelin' Yo Self This Valentine's Day:

Schedule a boudoir photo shoot and have some of the sexy photos printed for your man. Find a local photographer (check Instagram) and book a shoot. Bring your cutest undies and maybe one of his t shirts and get your flirt on. He will never see this one coming.

Get Ready For The Sappy Posts:

Get excited because your news feed is going to be blowing up with everyone's adorable couple photos and posts about how much they love each other. Either embrace it or take the day off from social media, because there will be no avoiding it.

Which One Of Your Friends Will Get Engaged?:

Let's start taking bets. I personally would say no if my boyfriend asked me on Valentine's Day (he knows this). But I'm sure one of your long lost friends from high school will be getting engaged in the next couple of days. Prepare yourself for ring photos. If your going to do a good ring photo do something creative like showing off your sparkler while holding this giant ring balloon. Congrats to the newly engaged! Let me plan your wedding *wink wink*.

For Your Friend Who's Not Feeling The Love This Year:

Have a friend who just went through a break  up? Have a girls night in! Order take out, buy yourself a bottle of wine (or three), and have a sleep over. Make an arrangement where you guys all get each other a little gift and do a white elephant exchange Valentine's Day style. These candles from www.flickingcandles.com have hilarious names for their scents like the sweet smell of Freshly SIgned Divorce Papers. You can also add some black flowers to a light pink arrangement to show everyone how you really feel about this day. Who needs boys right?

Save on Crafts Under $50

As a planner I love finding places that have new and unique things for weddings and events. Recently I have stumbled upon a website that I am absolutely obsessed with called Save-On-Crafts. Not only does this website have everything, but everything is reasonably priced! As a new planner on a budget this site has been a godsend! Here are a few of my Friday Favorites all under $50 on the site. Check it out here: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/

Elevated Stands & Candelabras:  Recently I have been loving tablescapes with a lot of height. I think making flowers and candles elevated really brings an elegant and romantic feel to any event. This Candelabra is gorgeous with long tapered candles and is affordable at $33.99. This would be a great place to show off your wedding colors with colored candles.

I also have a small obsession with mercury glass. This stand could be used to elevate flowers or topped with a large candle. For $34.99 the choice is yours.

Garden Party Vases: With spring approaching these vases would be perfect for a modern garden party. The white bud vases are connected to the white tray and would go perfectly in a row in the middle of a long farm table, kind of like a runner. The bud vases go for $17.00. These wire test tube vases are so modern and would go perfectly with the geometric vases and terrariums I have been seeing everywhere from Target to Anthropology. These range from $14.99-$17.99 for a set of five. If you are looking for something more out of the box this is the way to go.

Moss Accessories: Moss is really in this year and is popping up everywhere from table numbers to table runners. These moss accessories are really interesting and eye catching. I have seen backgrounds done with these moss balls by hanging them from the ceiling with fishing wire.

Gold Vases: Aren't these amazing? The top vase has a bohemian vibe and would look awesome with a warm color palate. The bottom vase is perfect for adding gold and metallic accents around your event.

Fun Cake Stands: Who doesn't love cake am I right? Although everyone loves dessert the cake table is often boring or forgotten. These cake stands will catch your guests eye and bring attention to the cake.  This $29 tortoise shell stand is perfection.

Kristen Pierson Meet Up

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting up with photographer Kristen Pierson! Both of us are new to the industry and we are planning a super cool bohemian styled bridal shoot. We met at Fluid Coffee and chatted about everything from this crazy industry to all things Pinterest.

Neither of us have ever done a styled shoot and have so many awesome ideas it will be hard to narrow everything down. Any advise for creating a styled shoot?

Anyway check out Kristen's website! She is awesome and such a sweetheart:
